West Nile Members of parliament have threatened to mobilise all Westnilers and return to DRC Congo where they originally belonged if anything happens to Koboko Municipality MP Evelyn Anite.
The MPs under thier umbrella organization of the West Nile Parliamentary group have told a press conference that threats against thier own can not be taken lightly following the murder of former Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga in June last year.
The MPs concerns follow allegations by Anite that a Mafia group in government was plotting to kill her.
They further warned the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to ensure that Anite is given adequate security to ensure maximum protection.
Anite, who has of recently floored a number of senior government officials in the Uganda Telecom Limited audit battle, said in a press briefing at her office on Monday that a number of meetings are taking place in Kampala to eliminate her.
“There have been meetings at Kampala Club, URSB (Uganda Registration Service Bureau) and other places,” said Anite.
She added that her phone is also being tapped and print outs made from the telecom service provider.
“My phone is being tapped and at times I even hear them chatting on the background,” said Anite.
The Minister also says her movements are also being trailed by the same unnamed people planning to kill her.
“They are trying to follow me everywhere. My car is being trailed and I am not scared of them,” said Anite.
Cases of government officials warning about plans to eliminate them are not new. Police officer Muhammad Kirumira alleged about a plan to take his life. He was killed a few months later by unknown assassins.
