The senior UPDF Officers who were recently appointed Assistant Inspector Generals of Police by the president Museveni have on Monday assumed their offices in a ceremony overseen by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi at Police headquarters Naguru.

Gen Sabiiti who is a former SFC commander was also transferred to the police in a move aimed at strengthening the Uganda Police.

The officers include; AIGP Brigadier Jack Bakasumba, the Chief of Joint Staff (CJS), AIGP Brigadier Godfrey Golooba (Director Human Resource Development and Training), Col Chris Serunjoji Damulira, (Director Crime Intelligence) and Colonel Jese Kamunanwire (Director Human Resource Administration).

The four replaced AIGP Haruna Isabirye who is heading to New York as the police attachée to the Ugandan Mission.

AIGP Moses Balimwoyo, who now moves as Director Interpol and International Relations. Balimwoyo replaces SCP Oyo Nyeko Benson, who was Acting Director and now heads to the AFRIPOL Headquarters in Algiers as the Police Liaison Officer while SCP Chombe Amur is now Deputy Director Interpol and International Relations.

Maj. Gen Sabiiti welcomed the officers and urged them to feel at home.

He also commended the outgoing officers for the job well done for the time they have served in the Directorates.

The development happened at the time when police have arrested ten of their own officers for failure to prevent murder of CIDI employee and her driver.
