Top Security chiefs meet over anticipated deadly Bobi Wine protests

by James Ateenyi

Security forces and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, and his supporters yesterday set the stage for possible collision today after disagreeing on the legislator’s statement recording programme and at worse the unworthy remanding of the legislator to Luzira prison.

In Kampala, evidence of tension was palpable. Long columns of soldiers could be seen patrolling streets in the inner city and demonstration-prone neighbourhoods.

Highly-placed sources told this website that senior officers from police, army, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, Internal Security Organisation and military police met at the Kampala Central Police Station boardroom last evening to work out finer deployment plans to ensure law and order prevails.

Hon Kyagulanyi, who was remanded to luzira prison after a court hearing at Buganda road court is set to reappear in court on 2,May. Its also well noted that there are plans underway to deny the Legislator bail according to insider sources that our reporter was able to have a chat with.

The legislator’s lawyer Mr Asuman Basalirwa in a phone call said that they will do all that is possible to make sure Mr Kyagulanyi will get bail and that their parallel arrangements will go on as planned.
