Police and sister security agencies are investigating investigating the circumstances under which a vehicle belonging to the senior police officer was impounded in robbery.
The vehicle belonging to deputy director Police Crime Intelligence was impounded after police arrested robbery who was suspect using officers car.
Deputy Director Crime intelligence SCP Charles Asaba’s car has been impounded in a robbery in Mukono and his driver was subsequently arrested.
The information available indicates that Charles Tumusiime a driver to Asaba was driving his boss’s grey pick up registration number UAZ640Q and was was netted by security in Mukono where he is being detained.
Tumusiime was armed and was in a company of two other people and a lady only identified as Malaika. It is alleged that they tried to break in whole sale shop in Mukono but security was alerted and rushed to the scene arresting the suspects.
Sources in crime intelligence narrated to us that, SCP Asaba is now praying to his boss not to fire him because he was not part of this robbery.
His filed is being handled by the deputy IGP Muzeyi Sabiti.
Police chief Martin Okoth Ochola has since ordered PSU to investigate Asaba with view that he could be with more crucial information regarding the increasing armed robberies in Kampala and its surrounding.
When contacted Kampala metropolitan spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire confirmed that the car was impounded and that the driver is in custody.
