Democratic Party (DP) president the former Gulu LCV chairman Norbert Mao, has given Uganda’s most successful Afro beat singer Joseph Mayanja popularly known by his stage name Chameleon a green light to contest for Kampala mayoral post against incumbent Haji Ssalongo Erias Lukwago. Moa invited Chameleon on DP Block reunion for Busoga region at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
President Mao while addressing the DP Block congregation at Kakindu Studiam welcomed Mr. Mayanja to the DP family and promised to work with him in the fight to liberate Uganda, basing from Kampala City. Mao said that the DP Block is welcoming everybody to unite against the dictator and provide good leadership to the country.
Mayanja who was welcomed by the excited DP Block members reaffirmed his bid for Kampala Lord Mayorship post, and claimed to be part of the Democratic Party (DP).
“My father is a strong DP member. I belong here not anywhere you’re trying to push me. I am part of because we share challenges together ” Chameleon said.
Chameleon praised the Kyadondo East MP Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine for the great vision of championing the struggle to liberate Ugandans from the music industry.
“I thank my colleague Bobi for leading this struggle. I think it was me missing on the front. Now am on board.” Chameleon remarked.
Sources have informed this website that Mao has already planned Chameleon’s Kamapala takeover to discipline Lord mayor Lukwago who is FDC leaning and has checked DP leadership and structures ever since he become the Lord Mayor.
People Power youth from Kamwokya welcomed the Afro beat singer officially to People Power by decorating him with a barret on his head which was done on the stage at Kakindu Studiam in Jinja by Ssemanda Vincent.
DP Block support to Chameleon against Erias Lukwago who is the Deputy president in Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s People’s government has widened the gap between People’s government and DP Block. Chameleon factor has come in the time when People Power has just signed a memorandum of understanding with Dr. Besigye’s People’s government. The task is waiting the two spokespersons Joel Ssenyonyi of People Power and Mukono Municipality MP hon. Betty Nambooze Bakireke as political temperatures raise a head of 2021 general elections.
