The security forces conjunction with police have refuted the claims of raiding Bobi Wine hotel and homes of Justice Forum (JEEMA) president Asuman Basalirwa.
Police released the statement following allegations from Basalirwa who is also Bugiri municipality MP aspirant that his home was raided by millitary on Wednesday morning by around 3:00am.
Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi also know as Bobi Wine also said the hostel he is staying in by on his campaign trail for Basalirwa was also raided at around the same time as that of Basalirwa.
JEEMA claims in statement released later in the day that about 13 of its supporters were arrested by security forces during the operation that lasted for 30 minutes.
Bobi Wine and his crew spent night at the planet hotel in Bugiri.
In a statement released by police spokesman Emilian Kayima, he said police has not arrested anyone nor surrounded the hostel or home of Bobi Wine and Basalirwa respectively.
Kyama said he got report from both police in Bugiri and former JEEMA president Hussein Kyanjo and confirmed that the incidents didn’t take place.
Kyama has however confirmed that some suspects were arrested but added that they are supporters of Asuman Basalirwa.
He also denied that, they were arrested yesterday. He said Bobi Wine and Basalirwa are playing dirty politics with aims of getting sympathy votes.
He added that police will continue work in accordance with the law to ensure that Bugiri poll is peaceful.
He urged all candidates in the race to refrain their supporters from engaging in unlawful activities adding that those who will be found involved in illegal activities will be arrested by police.
The poll that will be decided on Friday this week has been tense with counter accusations from all camps.
