Chieftaincy of military intelligence (CMI) is carrying out investigatio on reports that police officers attached to the Entebbe International airport allegedly shared airport security secrets with Uganda opposition leader Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye.
Sources within the security circle told us that a police officer whose names have been withheld for security reason was picked last week at Entebbe international airport where he has been deployed.
“We thought our officer was kidnapped and started looking for him until we came to realize that he was picked from airport by CMI,”said a source on condition of anonymity.
On arrest, the officer was taken to safe house in Mpala along Entebbe road and was grilled for hours by operatives from CMI and Special Forces Command.
Sources further told us that, the officers was picked after the detectives from CMI monitored his phone calls and was found to be in constant contact with former FDC president.
The military the source added wanted to establish his relationship and business he has with the former presidential candidate which warrants constant communications.
It is further revealed that upon his arrest, the officer was made to reveal all his associates who have since been arrested.
The latest development comes weeks after Besigye confirmed that he had got credible intelligence from his sources in security that security forces had wanted to assassinate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine and later frame him with murder charges.
