Police and CMI recover bodies from a local healing shrine, healer arrested

Shock and panic have engulfed residents of Kisoga village, Nazigo sub county in Kayunga district after a witch doctor has been arrested by security personnel comprising of officers from Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and police on allegation of human sacrifice.

The detectives led officers from Naggalama Police Station in Mukono arrested the suspect after tip of from the local residents and in the process the process recovered five bodies from his shrine.

The suspect has been identified by police as a local witch doctor whose name was withheld so as to carryout smooth investigations. According residents, the suspect is a popular traditional healer in the area and has been receiving clients from various parts of the country.

Police stated that four of the recovered bodies are believed to men and one woman. Police further said that all the bodies are all of adults. The corpses were dug out from the graves at the shrines found at the suspect’s shrines.

Residents said the incident has caused general panics and fears within the communities.

Police said the bodies will taken for DNA tests to identify the deceased. The suspect will be produced in court once the investigation into matter is complete.

One of the investigator handling the case they may prefer charges of murder and human sacrifice against the suspect depending on the advice from the DPP.
