Panics as unknown gunmen raid a town in Northern Uganda

by James Ateenyi

Unknown gunmen on Thursday morning attacked and raided a Centenary bank agent at Aduku Town Council branch and robbed him of Shs20 million.

It is reported that three armed men broke into Arocha View Mobile Banking business premises located in the heart of Aduku Town Council and took off with the money, which was kept in a locker.

Eyewitnesses who preferred anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter said two gunmen were seen on Wednesday night in an unidentified vehicle patrolling the building before the incident happened.

“There were no security personnel deployed to guard the facility, but that night we thought maybe they had deployed private guards to ensure safety of the banking facility,” an eyewitness said.

Residents expressed concern over the rising case of robbery and requested the government to provide more security in the area in order to curb such crimes.
