NRM Electoral commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi has blamed the disorganization in the ruling party as the reason for losing Arua municipality by-election.
He said the party faced several challenges including lack of finance to carryout primaries which he said led to a lot of confusion.
“Arua Municipality elections weren’t okay, we had problems. The money was released on 16th yet the elections were on the 1num 7th.” He revealed.
He revealed that Arua Municipality voters warned them before election that they would Wadri Kasiano because they failed to manage internal contradictions within the party.
“The NRM population in Arua warned us that they’d vote for Kassiano Wadri even when Tiperu was announced the party flag bearer, and we told this to the concerned parties because we wanted to mobilize quickly.” Odoi asserted.
He added that Arua loss was a very big a very big blow for the ruling party as it came just days after the Bugiri loss and denied the allegations that Kyadondo East member of parliament Bobi Wine is a thug.
“We didn’t prepare properly, and we have lost in areas we shouldn’t have lost. It’s the same issue we had in Bugiri, we had a very good candidate. The current dispensation within the secretariat is what will weaken our party. Bobi wine isn’t a thug and aggressive as people say he is, he’s very intelligent.” He explained.
His statement comes a day after the ruling party chairman president Museveni branded Bobi Wine as a trouble causer.
