The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) said it working hard to contain Kasiano Wadri in the upcoming by-election in Arua Municipality.
According to NRM Electoral commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi, the ruling party is facing an uphill battle because the party is divided as a result of two independent NRM candidates.
Robert Ejiku and Jackson Atima who lost in the party primaries to Nusura Tiperu have decided to contest as independents.
Odoi said Hon Kassiano Ezati Wadri, the former Terego County member of parliament who is also aspiring for the seat as an independent is the biggest challenge to the ruling party.
Odoi added that plan is underway to convince the two independent NRM candidates to withdraw so that they take advantage of the disorganization in the opposition to take the seat.
Arua Municipality by-election election has left opposition dividend as group who subscribes to the Third force alliance are relying their support behind independent candidate Kasiano Wadri while Besigye and FDC are rallying behind FDC Bruce Musema.
The division within the opposition widened following the opposition cabinet reshuffle after majority of MPs that subscribes to the Third Force Alliance were dropped from the opposition reshuffle.
Odoi addressing press in Kampala further revealed that NRM primaries elections in the newly created districts have been postponed indefinitely due to lack of funds.
He added that the party is currently putting more efforts in retaining the Arua Municipality seat which fell vacant following the shooting of Ibrahim Abiriga in June this year.
