National Resistance Movement Chairperson for Kampala Godfrey Nyakana has expressed his intention to contest as Kampala Lord Mayor against opposition strongman Erias Lukwago.
Nyakana who represented Kampala central as a Division mayor between 2011 and 2016 made the revelation on Tuesday morning while appearing on NBS TV “morning breeze” programme discussing “NRM Cash Bonanza and Museveni’s Repositioning”.
“If you do not give them platform to talk, it can escalate into something big later,” he said before adding that the ruling party has all it take to take over Kampala.
“I am also contemplating standing as a leader probably mayor of Kampala because there are many things not being done,” he asserted.
Nyakana who is poised to unseat Lukwago said he does not think cash is very vital in the politics of Uganda but interpersonal relationship with people is the most important.
He maintains that he is still strong supporter of the ruling party adding people power Movement is not a threat and will be subdued.
