The community in Ngetta Sub County in Lira district has caused the closure of Ngetta Ginnery Police outpost over what they say is abuse of office and negligence of duty by police men posted there.
For long, the locals in Ngetta complained that the police men at Ngetta Ginnery outpost always abandon their work especially those assigned to work at night.
According to the locals, most times they would find the outpost without any police man when they report their cases or are in dire need of a policeman to take care of a security situation.
Consequently, they stormed the outpost on Saturday night and did not find anyone at the outpost.Out of anger and frustration, they removed all the case files and dumped them at Lira central police station as exhibit of negligence of duty by the said officers.
Esther Odwar, the vice chairperson Tegot Village Says they are demanding for immediate transfer of the implicated police officers by Joel Tubanone, the District Police Commander.
However the DPC last evening said that a case of abuse of office at Ngetta Ginnery and said it would be addressed once it reaches his desk.
David Ongom Mudong, the North Kioga Police Spokesperson equally feigned knowledge of the case. But by the time of filing this story, we were yet to confirm reports that Nasuma Naumari, the officer in charge of the outpost was stripped off his uniforms.
