NBS TV denounced for demeaning Bobi Wine

by James Ateenyi

Local television channel has come under public critism by section of social media activists for demeaning the Ghetto president who doubles as Kyadondo East member of parliament Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

The popstar was on Monday arrested and jailed in Luzira prison for offense allegedly committed nearly one year ago.

Bobi Wine was arrested following his summons at CID headquarters at Kibuli Kampala for the interrogation over allegations of inciting violence during the peaceful demonstration against the unpopular OTT tax last year.

Upon his arrests, NBS during its 7:00PM Luganda news bulletin locally known as ‘Amasegejje’ used demeaning headlines that caused public uproars among People Power supporters.

Headlines Like “Eyeyita Omubanda asuze Luzira” referring to Bobi Wine, loosely translated as Mr.Bobi Wine who calls him self a Rasta/Bad Man has slept at Luzira prison.

The second headline was “Kati Ebya ‘Kyarenga’ Abiyimbira Luzira” meaning that Bobi Wine is performing inside Luzira prison his popular track ‘Kyarenga’.

FDC lawyer Muwonge Daniel asked the motive of NBS TV to use these statements and what is behind it. Others have accused the local TV for working for President Museveni’s government and his ruling NRM to fight Bobi Wine which is being partisan in its media service.

NBS TV is currently owned by Kin Kalisa who hails from Ruhaama Ntungamo the home ground of First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni.

Accordingly Ugandans are having much hope now than ever that Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has ruled Uganda since 1986, is on the verge of leaving power to Ugandans and Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye have increased political pressure on president yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Fred Nyanzi the chairman of People Power Movement and also Bobi Wine elder brother told reporters that government is scared at anybody who is seen to be against this struggle to force Museveni’s exit by any affordable means as Bobi Wine said last week, that Mr. Museveni and his ‘Yes’ men can be forced out of power even before 2021.
