Ugandans were at the beginning of this week left shocked of the sudden resignation of Kampala Capital Council Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Madam Jenifer Namakula Musisi.
Musisi had served in the capacity for the last seven years and was expected to finish her second term in 2022.
Her resignation will leave president Museveni with no option but to appoint her replacement as mandated in the constitution.
Sources within State house informed us upon receiving the resignation, decided to line up several names for possible replacement.
According to the source, lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire is the frontliner for the highest paying job in Uganda. Bamugemereire who is the Constitutional Court judge is currently chairperson of the land inquiry commission.
Bamugemereire was the chairperson of the committee that investigated and implicated the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago during the impeachment process.
She grilled several high profile people during the investigation into the land matter. She has been acting tough on most of the culprits who were grilled by her.
He tougheness the source said caught president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni eyes because the politics of the KCCA needed someone of her character to deal with political team who are mainly opposition supporters.
Lukwago does not need someone who is soft and Bamugemereire is considered as that person who can contain him;” the source added.
Others who are being considered as Musisi possible replacement are Allen Kagina who heads UNRA, Frank Tumwebaze among others.
Musisi will end her role as KCCA ED in December and anything can happen before her resignation notice expires.
