NRM member of parliament stopped financial contribution to the party

by James Ateenyi

Buyaga County member of parliament hon Barnabas Tinkasimire has written to the accountant of Parliament to suspend with immediate effect the monthly deductions from his salary as his personal financial contribution to the ruling National Resistance Movement party.

The MP accused his party of victimisation and criminalization of the dissent voices within the party citing the the incident where he and the 26 others who voted against lifting age limit December last year have been subjected to a lot of discrimination, threats and intimidation.

He also accused the government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa who he said has been discriminating the 27 MPs by not allocating them high profile committees in recent NRM parliamentary reshuffle .

He also says that Nankabirwa does not invite them to any party activities adding he is ready for further humiliation by his party.

Tinkasimire who is one of the four rebel members of parliament who were expelled from the party in the 9th parliament says this is a good reason for him to revenge by stopping his monthly contributions to the party that clearly doesn’t need him anymore despite sacrificing and canvassing support for its flag bearer in last general election.

He asked the party to respect voices of those who do not agree with the position of the party leader especially president Museveni adding that dissidents are good for the growth of the party.
