Minister Nantaba speaks out on assassination attempt

The state minister for information and communications technology, Ida Nantaba has spoken out on reported assassination attempt on her.

On Sunday morning, social media was awash with the report that the minister was attacked by suspected assassins.

Nantaba in response confirmed surviving a botched assassination on Sunday afternoon.

It is reported that an unidentified gunmen using motorbikes tried to end the minister’s life as she made her way to Kampala from kayunga.

She has told info256 that she has recorded statement at Naggalama police station.

She added that she is traumatized but give glory to God for saving her life.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, the Kayunga the vocal NRM minister became suspicious of the men on the motorbike and therefore called the Nagalama Police station which alerted other stations.

“The Police then started patrolling and monitoring the surroundings before the gunmen opened fire which prompted the Police to fire back before killing one of the gunmen on spot,” Owoyesigire said.

The development comes months after series of assassinations of high profile people in Uganda which included security personnel, politicians, clergies among others.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had previously stated that, urban crimes will eliminated once the installation of CCTV a long major high ways and towns are completed.
