Katikkiro of Buganda Owek Charles Peter Mayiga has given hint about possibility of running for president of Uganda. Mayiga who has been credited by many both within and outside Buganda kingdom is considered as one of the favorite candidate to replace the incumbent president Yoweri Museveni who is likely to run for his last term in 2021.
While on TV interview with local TV station BBS TV on Wednesday this week, Mayiga was asked by host presenter Dunstan Busuulwa on whether he is considering running for the president of Uganda in future.
The jolly looking Mayiga in response said he is capable of leading the country adding that his current responsibilities as Katikkiro of Buganda is harder than the responsibilities of being president of the Republic of Uganda.
Mayiga added that currently he is putting he is concentrating on his current job of taking the Kingdom to the highest level possible and will think of other responsibilities in future when it is the right time.
He reminded the viewers that he is Ugandan having all the qualifications required to run for presidency in the country and if he wants nothing can stop him.
Mayiga did not rule out the possibilities in case needs arises in future. This is the first time Mayiga is commenting on possibilities of being president.
Mayiga was giving interviews on preparations of celebration of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi 25th coronation anniversary.
