The Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has sent a delegation to check on the health condition of the detained Kyadondo East member of parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known by stage name Bobi Wine. The Buganda kingdom delegation will visit Bobi Wine at his detention facility in Gulu early next week.
The revelation to visit the detained legislator who is facing treason charges was made by the first deputy Kaikkiro (premier) Ambassador Emmanuel Ssendawula during his visit to Bobi Wine’s family.
While delivering kabaka message to wife of Bobi Wine Barbra Itungo Kyagulanyi aka Barbie Wine, Ssendawula revealed that that Kabaka will send delegation to Gulu led by Katikkiro (premier) Owek Charles Peter Mayiga accompanied by other high-profile kingdom officials
“The ongoing events are distressing to the King and he sent us to re-assure you of his support to your family. The kingdom condemns acts of torturing detainees. We have come here to assure you that we are behind you through this challenging moment,” Ambassador Ssendawula told Bobi Wine’ wife.
He praised Barbie for inspiring her husband and standing by him during this hard time.
“A kingdom delegation will visit him and his colleagues next week,” Mr. Ssendawula added.
He also called on government to ensure that the tortured individuals are given adequate medical treatment. He also called on government to respect human right.
He asked government to facilitate medical care for all the detainees as it is a human right.
Barbie thanked the Kabaka’s delegation for the visiting the family saying it has given her hope and encouraged her.
