Ugandans with cancer are soon to see and experience cost effective treatments due to plans which have been unveiled by the government yesterday. Cancer drugs are soon to be produced locally in the pearl of Africa. A foreign company known as Rene Industries Limited has revealed its plan to start a local pharmaceutical company aimed at producing the drugs locally.
Uganda’s trade minister Hon Kyambadde was very pleased with the work being done at Rene Industries. While paying a visit at Rene industries the minister was informed by the administration of Rene industries that feasibility studies are already being under taken to start producing the anti- cancer drugs.
The facility which is located at Kamuli village, Kireka parish in Kira Town council is estimated to cost a tune of $10 Million with the hope of being finished and launched in the next five years.
According to management at Rene industries its estimated that this project will decrease cancer treatments cost down to 50% saving Uganda almost 200 billions lost annually due to importing drugs.

Currently Rene Industries has over 110 pharmaceutical products of which include syrups,capsules tablets and liquid orals, the company also provides employment to over 400 Ugandans a figure expected to triple in the next 5 years after completion of the anti cancer drug facility.
