General Muntu announced resignation from FDC

Former president for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has quit opposition Forum for Democratic Change party.

In a memo sent to party members, Muntu said the decision was arrived at following the recent consultation meetings he held following his party presidential election loss.

Muntu who lost to Engineer Patrick Amoriat Oboi said he will address a press conference on Friday this week to update the country on his latest move.

The former army commander added that he has already communicated his position to the party president Patrick Amoriat Oboi.

He added in the statement issued on Tuesday that he has left the Uganda main opposition party with immediate effect.

He is expected to be joined by several opposition members of parliament in mass defection from the main opposition party to form what is referred as a third force.

Muntu is expected to team up with Kyadondo East member of parliament Hon Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine to form a new political party.
