Bobi Wine at Bugiri rally

Kyadondo East member of parliament Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssemtamu commonly popular by his stage name Bobi Wine has left the supporters of Arua municipality MP aspirant Hon Kasiano Wadri bitter after he failed to show up for his campaign rally at Arua hills on Thursday last week.

Many voters were left wondering why the ghetto president never showed up for the rally where he had earlier confirmed attendance.

Sources close to the man from Kyamwokya indicates that the musician turned politician made the change of mind following the latest division which emerged within the oppositions following the opposition cabinet reshuffle few days ago.

According to source Bobi Wine never wanted to be misunderstood as trying to create disorganization within the opposition by siding with any camp and decided to keep away from Arua campaign trail until the political heats cool down.

It is also said that Bobi Wine feared to appear at Wadri’s rally because it would go against his words of empowering the young people so campaigning for someone who is soon clocking 70 years would be betrayal to the young people in the race.

Bobi Wine also found himself in the fix after four of the candidates in the race expected him to openly support them for one reason or the other.

One of such candidates who expected his endorsement was DP flag bearer Madira Kennedy aka JM Kennedy a popular West Nile music artist. Madira expected Bobi Wine because share common interests as both are musicians who subscribes to opposition.

Bruce Musema of FDC who is the strongest of the young candidates in the race also expected the ghetto president to grace his campaign and so is and independent Robert Ejiku.

However, sources said Bobi Wine had zeroed on supporting Wadri and the two even met in Gulu during UYD reunion party but the event that followed the opposition reshuffle made the freedom hitmaker to postpone his trip to Arua.

Another factor that forced him not to appear at the rally of any candidate is the stiff competition witnessed in the Arua race where there is no clear favorite at the moment. Sources said following the lose he suffered in Nebbi municipality by-election, Bobi Wine does not want to take another risk of supporting the candidate. It on this reason that opposition leaders led by Mwiru to decided to address press conference in Kampala so that his appearance in Arua will be seen as coalition of opposition and not Bobi Wine as an individual.
