Mourners in Kamuli district were on Wednesday treated to a free drama after former State Minister for Regional Foreign Affairs Isaac Musumba was booed and blocked by residents from eulogizing a deceased member of the community.
The incident took place at the burial of Scovia Gwaivu who is wife to Mbulamuti Sub county LC III chairman.
The sub county is located in Buzaaya county an area which was represented in parliament by Musumba in the last parliament.
He was accused of supporting the constitutional amendment bill which scrapped the presidential age limit from the constitution. The resident told him that they rejected the idea of lifting the age limit but Musumba and his cliques ignored their voices and went ahead to change the constitution.
He was forced to end his speech just after introducing himself as mourners became rowdy and wanted to grab the microphone away from him. He had no option but to hand over the microphone to Morris Kibalya a member of parliament representing Bugabula South who voted against the removal of age limit during the constitutional amendment debate.
Some residents we managed to talk to told us that they are waiting for him come 2021 because that is the best time to punish him with votes of no confidence.
Other mourners told us that Musumba has not been appearing in public since the age limit was removed from the constitution.
“He should go to his master Museveni to give him an appointment otherwise for us we don’t want him anymore and he should forget winning any election here.” One of the charged residents said.
Musumba is one of the many members of parliament who received hostile environment in their constituency since December when they voted to remove the age limit from the constitution.
Uganda is expected to go to poll in 2021 after constitutional court quashed the two years extension on terms of the member of parliament and local government.
