Bobi Wine meets influential US congress member in Washington DC

Kyadondo East member of parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssemtamu popularly known as Bobi Wine and his wife Barbara Itungo aka Barbie Itungo yesterday met Bradley Sherman, a United States (US) congress man.

The meeting took place shortly after Bobi Wine, who is currently in the United States for specialised medical treatment, held a press conference in Washington DC alongside his lawyer Robert Amsterdam were he addressed international press about the situation that unfounded in Arua on his future plans for the struggle against president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni rule.

“Today, I met with @HEBobiwine and his wife, Barbara. During our meeting he underlined the importance of the democratic process as well as those who have and continue to suffer from political oppression in #Uganda. #PeoplePower #FreeZaake #Arua33,” Mr Sherman posted on social media shortly after the meeting.

Mr Sherman has been in the congress since 1997 as a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives and currently represents California’s 30th congressional district within the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles County and the eastern Simi Hills in Ventura County.

Bobi Wine is currently receiving medical treatment in the United States following the injuries he sustained during the fracas that mars Arua town in August.

The chaos erupted in Arua town between opposition and ruling party supporters and Bobi Wine who was in the district to canvas support for opposition leaning independent candidate Kasiano Wadri who went on to win the election despite being in jail.

Bobi Wine became an MP in 2017, after winning by-election at Kyadondo East and has been rallying youth to take charge of the leadership of the country.

He along with 33 others were charged with treason last month after they were accused by the government of attacking president Museveni motorcade.
