Former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye officiated the premier of the Movie Warrior Woman in Rukungiri directed by Fiffy Atuhaire. Fiffy is a daughter to a Rukungiri based businessman dealing in hardware. Besigye who was on Thursday arrested by police from his home at Kasangati and later charged with preventive arrest took a rest from the country politics and joined the residents of his ancestral home as the guest of honor at the function.
Warrior Woman is a movie that shows the African marriage setting and problems encountered in polygamous marriages. It also illustrates the reasons that force men to marry many wives and teaches prayer as a weapon to peaceful and successful marriages.
Speaking to guests, Besigye expressed concern that performing arts has been neglected in this country and stressed that there should be deliberate efforts to identify, groom and nurture talented Ugandans into professional artistes.
He says artistes create wealth, jobs and make good leaders. The function is attended by bankers from Stanbic and Centenary Bank branches from South Western Uganda, MTN staff from Kigezi region, business community and hotel Owners.
Besigye also auctioned a CD that generated more than Uganda shillings 4 millions.
Recently Besigye told a press conference in Kampala that he has been abused several times by Ugandans for delaying change hinting that he would resign from active politics to give rooms for the new faces to lead the struggle against president Yoweri Kaguta Museni three decades rules.
