Besigye explains why he won’t abandon the struggle against president Museveni

Former Forum for Democratic Change party president Colonel Dr Kizza Besigye has vowed to continue with the struggle against president until he has won the freedom that his younger brother, Joseph Musasizi Kifefe, died for on November 29, 2007.

Besigye brother Musasizi died at Mulago hospital on suspected poisoning after being denied by the government to travel for medical treatment abroad.

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, Besigye who in 2005 was charged with treason alongside his deceased brother took to social media to remember the fallen hero who died in the struggle against president Museveni 11 years ago.

“11 years on, the struggle continues! We shall never turn back or relent till the freedom you cherished &died for is realised,” Besigye tweeted.

He added: “Therefore we don’t lose heart. Though outwardly we’re wasting away, yet inwardly we’re being renewed day by day” 2 Cor 4:16.”

Besigye brother died of kidney failure and family members blamed his government who prolonged his stay in hospital and denied him medical treatment abroad despite several attempts.

Musasizi’s wife, Christine, said efforts to take him to South Africa failed because his passport was deposited at the High Court as the condition for his bail

Musasizi was granted bail on June 12 by the High Court on account of grave sickness.
Together with two other suspected People’s Redemption Army rebels. They were accused of murdering John Byarugaba in Bushenyi on July 17, 2002.

Three years after his death, murder charges against him were dropped by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
