Grade one magistrate Moses Nabende has issued criminal summons against Assistant commissioner of police Siraje Baleke and six other senior police officers to appear and answer to charges of Abuse of office in relation to the kidnap, wrongful arrest and confinement of three Korean investors.
The former Kampala South metropolitan police commander Bakaleke was summoned after state prosecutor rriet Angom told Court that there is no evidence before court that Bakaleke and six others were served with the previous court summons.
“We do not have any proof that the accused were served, however today we shall serve them,” Ms Angom told Court.
Bakaleke is accused to have used his office as Assistant commissioner of Police to connived with a city lawyer Mugoya Wanyoto to defraud US dollars 41500 from the 3 Koreans nationals.
Others accused with Baleke are; Robert Munezero, Innocent Nuwagaba, Robert Asiimwe Ray, Junior Amanya, Gastavas Babu and Kenneth Zirintusa all are police officers.
They are charged of the offense along with a popular city lawyer Paul Mugoya Wanyoto and a businessman Samuel Nabeta Mulowooza .
Prosecution allege that after wrong full arrest of the Koreans, Wanyoto acting as the lawyer for the Koreans obtained another USD 30,000 from them on false excuse that it was legal fees to represent them on the criminal charges they were facing.
Bakaleke and the six officers are facing 12 counts of Abuse of office, kidnap and abducting with intent to confine a person, Embezzlement, obtaining money by false pretense and conspiracy to commit an offense. They have all denied charges them
